Avian ecology, evolution and conservation
Ever since I was a kid, I have been captivated by birds. I banded my first bird (a Mallard) at age 10 and went on to become an avid birder shortly after. Since then, I have birded and held avian field jobs around the country and throughout the Southern Hemisphere. My current research is based in the Dominican Republic.
I have learned that outreach and education go hand in hand and I have striven to include outreach in all of my field work. My current goal is to extend my research in the Dominican Republic into a long-term monitoring effort, incorporating local Dominican ecologists and continuing with outreach at the local schools.
