 This bird represents a potential hybrid given its intermediate phenotype. It has the dark eyes and light under-bill of a Broad-billed Tody, but it has the white breast and distinct white malar stripes of a Narrow-billed Tody. Even more convincing is the intermediate vocalization that exists (see below).
